Default 4th Bn Welch Regiment

An interesting photo for a couple of reasons. It must date between August 1945 when 4th Welch were still serving in 53rd Welsh Division and October 1946 when 49th West Riding Division was disbanded. In the immediate postwar period regiments and brigades were frequently moved between divisions causing such anomalies as this.

Also of interest is the position of the parachute wings. Positioned there rather than disturb an otherwise full sleeve?

Jon,
This is a battalion I’ve been looking into for a while. On a number of occasions I’ve come across all white metal post 1920 pattern cap badges reputed to be associated with the 4th. The attached is one such example.
This one is better than most and looks to have been professionally nickel plated. The lot on eBay that sold recently also had a white badge in amongst the 4th Welsh related items.
It has been mentioned to me that it was worn by old comrades but I have nothing definitive yet.
Hwyl,
Kevin

I am seeing progressively more photos showing combination formation signs actually in wear; however, it could be that I am noticing them more readily.
At any rate, these combinations seem to be fairly common on late war BD blouses.
The shoulder title also appears to be an embroidered example instead of printed.
