The QC chrome is a generic UK police button. The other is Admiralty related.

Mystery Buttons
Hi Dave, thanks for that, I'm surprised, I thought police buttons were generally chrome/silver in colour where this one is more yellowy/gold/ adonised in colour! it was bought with a set of crown collar badges and cap badge listed as MOD civilian insignia ?.

If gold coloured then it may be City of London police, or a yeomanry regiment depending on whether anod al, chromed, gilt.

Mystery Buttons
Hi all.
Seems my button is Ayrshire (Earl of Carrick's Own) Yeomanry! if it was silver it would be a generic police button but it would seem not an MOD civilian staff button as sold to me (unless they do actually wear Generic pattern police buttons?) Thanks for the replies Tony |

Hello
I'm not so sure that the crown button is necessarily Ayrshire Yeomanry. Many organisations wear/wore a similar crown within scalloped border button and it can be very difficult to pin it down to a particular unit. This type of button, in many different finishes, is always appearing on ebay as 'Ayrshire Yeomanry' because that is far more 'glamorous' than a standard generic crown pattern button! Roger |
