Default RM SC1 Badge on ebay King's Crown

Ummm,
Just seen this on ebay, bit of a quandary -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1421125287...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

The SQ was introduced in 1951 so theoretically a KC badge could exist, BUT it usually takes a couple of years for SQ badges to become established. All of the sealed patterns that survive - RMM, IWM, NMM and in Plymouth have a Queen's Crown. Nowhere has a King's crown. Combine this with the colour way - never seen this combination on an RM badge.....

All that said, there is something interesting about this badge, or am I imagining it?
Thanks
John

Yes, it really is. Although I have seen oddments that found their way into use before a sealed pattern was produced - but given by 1951 the well established colours for blue background where bullion wire or red...

Since posting the original query I have checked dress regulations, this series of badges first appears in the 1956 navy list, however mention is made in a 1955 G&L of the Cooks badge.

It looks very much like one of the current reproductions that are going around.
