This is a long shot but I need help to id this captured flag from the Falklands War .This lot came together from a unknown RM veteran. It consists of his beret,a UK flag he had on him during the war,a captured Argentinian helmet ,the unknown flag signed by various people all coming in a FIGAS bag. I would like to id the flag ie is it Argentinian or a private company flag? Also anyone recognize who signed it.

FIGAS = Falkland Islands Government Air Service.

Well done Mike, the colours are the same as those on a skins stable belt, the triangle would normally indicate A Company or A Squadron so I think you have it cracked there !

The flag is correctly ID'd by the writing on it it was a retirement gift to the recipient from A Squadron on his leaving the squadron.
I'm not saying the other stuff isn't from the Falklands War but that flag isn't. The V DG were in Osnabruck during the war. 1000's of Argy helmets were disgarded after the surrender so war booty possibly, captured? picked up, hardly captured. Regiments posted to the Islands post war were picking up disgarded war stuff for years. The Bootneck could well have been in the war but with the FIGAS bag he was more than likely a member of Marine Det 9801 post war. Not many FIGAS flights going on during the war... |

On the flag - who was Captain Catalogue? And the comment about Goose Green signed by someone with a 59 (Cdo Sqn RE?) connection? Mike
