Hi,
From your description, the badge could be for Local Companies, worn by the Royal New Zealand Fencible Corps.
Cheers,
Tinto

Here's the badge I was referring to.
Is it the same as yours?

Thanks so much
Thats it.
i just posted 2 pictures of it.
Not as good as condition but a great find in a lake last night while metal detecting.
The night before 2 mates found 2 rusted muskets in the lake
I also found a fighting axe head and a trade axe head

Hi RH,
That's a good find. Well done.
I'm curious as to where the lake is and how you manage to find objects underwater?

Hi Tinto, We were using metal detectors.
some mates found 2 muskets the night before.
So i got to tag along last night. for the first time.
4hrs in waders with beautiful stars shining down above and korua crawling around your feet and baby trout swimming up to you. it was majestic and finding stuff was just the bonus
It was a lake in the Rotorua district. sorry i cant tell you exactly until they detect it fully out.

Hello

Hope you don't take this the wrong way but I'm just curious as to why you are metal detecting at night? Here in the UK that would not usually be a good sign! Perhaps things are different in New Zealand.
