Jock scousers
Thank for clarifying that, Peter.
Most of my knowledge comes from a chap that used to come into my 'woolyback' local pub on Sunday lunchtime in his drummers uniform in the very early '60's I don't see him on the photo I'm attaching but that's exactly how he was dressed. His knowledge was obviously sketchy. It's good to have documentry evidence (which I haven't) Thanks.........Bill Last edited by BILL DUGGAN; 14-01-12 at 10:43 AM. |

Thanks Bill,
The first picture you posted is in "The Wonder Book of the Army" and as you may know is entitled "Men of the 1st Battalion of the Liverpool Scottish seen at map reading while training during their fortnights camp " and the book is from 1954. The second picture with Prince Phillip inspecting the Pipes and Drums has appeared in a number of books including Westlakes "The Territorial Battalions" at was taken at camp at Castlemartin in 1960. I remember seeing members of the Liverpool Scottish in the "Pheasant" pub in Hightown near Altcar Rifle Ranges probably also in the 1960`s but this was before my interest in Military History was rekindled. How I now wish I had taken more interest in what they were wearing. Peter
