Default Opinions please

Hi
I've had these badges for a while and would appreciate opinions as to their authenticity.
1. Lothian & Border Horse piper's badge. It appears to be a rough casting but is actually quite well made. It doesn't look like wm but possibly cast silver. It seems to have some thin lacquer on it which gives an odd sheen. I got it at the same time as a silver Scots Guards pipers badge.
2. Parachute Regiment - good or not?? It is quite well made and not the flimsy construction often found with restrikes.

Thanks in advance. Cheers,
Alex

It is unlike the most common restrike which is a good sign. However I'm not too fond of the shroud lines on the left side; also I have seen an identical example being sold as a restrike.

The errors in the shroud lines and the square at their end are not a good sign.

Default Parachute Regiment

Here is what I believe to be a genuine Parachute Regiment cap badge KC - but with the KC removed and showing signs of wear thereafter. Note that the shroud lines are symetrical.

Alex, I said I would no longer comment on the authenticity of badges but as you contacted me specifically I'll just say I'm afraid I wouldn't be happy if I'd paid money for your badge. Sorry, for the bad news.

It is a classic fake as seen on Evilbay most weeks. The picture next to yours is a genuine example. These aren't cheap and therefore I'll Pm you regards genuine badges as I don't want to give the fakers clues to where they are going wrong.

Regards Mike

The removed crown makes it a Free French pre-SAS badge, worn on a black beret.
