Default Royal Aviator's Association badge

Interested if anyone can shed light on this set of wings, named to Group Captain D A C Clapperton

This is possibly Dessie Albert Charles Clapperton (1917-1989) but what are the initials on the back of the badge?

It has been suggested that this is the badge for the Royal Aeronautical Society and that the "56" could be "1956" but is there someone who knows more about this?
