Default Royal Armoured Corps slider

All,
Was the standard ww2 era RAC badge ever issued with sliders? Most every badge I seem to see has lugs. Thanks,

CB

Default RAC cap badge

I have had several white metal mailed fist badges, all have had loops and not sliders, much the same with the Royal Tank Regt, although I have an RTR badge with an OSD finish and a slider. There are, it seems anomalies with badges which are difficult to say one way or another whether they are correct.

The Army Clothing Dept archives recorded exactly what fittings badges had. Sadly, they ceased in 1939. The Ministry of Supply ledgers list 2nd WW badges but do not mention fixings, metals or much else - though they do tell us how many were made, and by whom. One would have to find the Sealed Pattern to find out what fixing they were sealed with . Quite a few are at either the IWM or NAM though I don't know if they have RAC.

My K/C mailed fist badge is WW2 and has 2 vertical loops. I have seen some q/c ones with sliders.

Thanks all,
I have seen a slidered version at a local military antiques dealer that looks OK, but had wondered about that slider. I might hazard a guess that although lugged (looped) are the norm, it is probably not out of the realm of possiblities that genuine slidered KC badges were made as well.
