Default Who or what does this patch belong to ?

Hi All

My wife is working in a local museum, one of her tasks is to identify a Nurses cape that is adorned with multiple badges from people she helped out.

It has been enjoyable trawling the internet to find the majority, but the attached has us both stumped.

Anyone have any ideas please ?

Does anyone have a clue what this is, I am going with wheat but seem to go round in circles with what nationality it could be, and why would you have wheat as an emblem ?

It may sound far-fetched but my wife (the gardener in the family) thinks is looks like two sprigs of lavender. It's hand embroidered, so perhaps the Nursing Sister's surname was Lavender - and she was personalising her cape? Mike

Hi Mike

Nothing is far fetched as far as this goes. My eldest daughter said the same about lavender, I Googled for hrs but as of yet no success.

The nurses name was MacRae though, so no joy there.

If you zoom in on the image you can actually see what looks like a typical wheat ear, as in the thin spiky parts that emit from all round, the confusing part is the dark inlay in the wheat? or at the base.

All the other patches on her cape are from German/British/Canadian/Poland/Holland and this one sits at the bottom amongst all the others.

It could be a totally wild card and I have indeed searched merit badge type scenarios but not joy.

Thanks for replying.

I suppose trying to identify it is driving you 'dilly-dilly'...
Sorry

I've noticed that the Reichs Arbeitsdienst use ears of wheat in their badge designs in a variety of formats.

Yes agreed. In fact that was the most common "hit", but I don't know about you, this seems to have a homemade factor about it, for whom well thats the problem.

Well spotted! I was going to suggest that Ukraine uses ears of wheat as a folk symbol, but you've got it here.
