Default Green Howards?

Picked this up on a well known auction site recently.

Didn't expect it to be quite so large when it arrived - it's 4.164 CM (1.6395") high x 2.534 CM (0.997") at the widest point. The lugs are spaced 1.70 CM (0.671") apart.

The Victorian collar is included as a reference point. Apologies for poor quality photo.

Any ideas?

Bumping this up to see if anyone has the slightest clue.

One comment off-line that it might be 19th Hussars. Pretty sure it isn't for two reasons; the shape of the cypher & cross & the date - 1875=Green Howards while 1885=19th Hussars.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Many thanks,

Andy C

Andy,

Your right its not a 19th hussars badge due to the date (I missed that one). As I can not see your pictures for the reason explained, I'm guessing but as its on lugs possibly a pouch badge.

Cheers,
Marcus

Hi Marcus,

I became a friend of the museum just before it closed for a year to refurbish - looking forward to it opening it up again!

Research support still available though.

cheers,

Andy
