Default RCAF and CAF Badges

Hi all, I've just bought a huge lot of Canadian and British badges and insignia. Within this lot are these RCAF and CAF badges. As I don't have any books on RCAF insignia, I bought this lot on instinct. I appreciate any help in indentifying this stuff.

Regards,

Greg

Middle,RCAF Chaplain collars. Middle left,an escape compass, right, an army officer pip.

Fourth pic, left,RCAF (early?) brass cap badge.Early 1920s Canadian Air Force cap badge (original???).Right, Canadian Naval Air Service badge.
I could be mistaken on the last two since RCAF stuff is not my aerea of knowledge.

Hi Greg, Jo, The cloth title looks like a RCAF nationality title. And I am not sure, but the CAF badge may be a collar.

Most of these can be identified in Mazeas' 1920-50 book.
The RCAF cap badge is the scarcer first issue.

You are right Bill about the Canada title. Had a second good look at it and it's blue contrary to what I had seen this morning.(Bad lighting next to the computer.)
Mille excuses.

Thanks Jo Bill and Phil, I found them all in the back of Mazeas. So it looks like I have a set of RCAF medical collars, a RCAF Chaplins's hatbadge, a first patten RCAF capbadge (marked R for Roden), a RCAF escape compass, a Canadian Airforce officer's collar. There is also a tiny gilt pip with a blue felt underlay that may also be air related.

Thanks for the help!

Greg

Hi Greg, IIRC, the CAF wore rank stars.

The CAF piece is a collar badge. Looks to me to be the Centennial issue made in the 50's, could we see the back?
The brass Maple Leaf badge is for the Royal Canadian Naval Air Service Other Ranks. The officer's badge is the same brass but with sterling silver overlay on the wings and crown, with the anchor being a separate sterling piece riveted through the badge. There is also a super rare RCNAS qualified Aeroplane and Airship Pilot Wing for this set....Copper/bronze with sterling overlay in the same fashion.
The Chaplain's badge with the lugs is definitely a collar badge, issued wartime up to the 50's, where they were replaced by small gilt collars with no black cross.
Some nice finds!

Hi Guys,

The one original CAF Officer's tunic I have seen has white metal pips, not brass. I've always wanted to track down the CAF period dress regs.

Where to start?

Hi Greg

I am after an RCAF Chaplain collar to complete a set. Are you thinking of parting with it? And yes, I believe all the early CAF stuff was silvered (silver, white metal etc) rather than brass...

Sorry SAS1, almost all of the stuff I bought I passed on to others. Maybe next time.

Cheers,

Greg
