Mission Statement
In todays politically correct world I wonder if the Forum ought to have its own Mission Statement ?
Anyone any ideas what it could be ? P.B.

Interesting one. We've evolved from when we set off on this Journey 6 years ago. Our unspoken purpose sort of being defined at the antithesis of our (by nature negative sounding) forum rules.
It would be nice to have a Mission Statement to put in front of, and counter balance those rules. So what exactly are we here for? We are in the business of mutual assistance via the sharing of observations on insignia, but it goes deeper that that, with the 'process' that takes place, an often painful process, of eliminating the bad stuff via a hopefully reasoned argument within the group. It is with these multiple opinion rapid 'workout' type discussions that we beat the printed paper media hands down. Identifying fakes is of course only one aspect of what we do. Anyone else an opinion? and do we have a skilled pen man to draft it when we reach a consensus? |

Perhaps something on the lines of-
"To assist members to identify and discuss genuine items of military insignia and to help avoid the numerous non genuine items that blight the hobby" P.B.

A start:
"A Forum to identify, research, document and authenticate the insignia worn by the armed forces of Great Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Commonwealth nations and former Colonies and Protectorates of the Brisith Empire"

To promote the study and appreciation of military history in general, and British and Commonwealth military history in particular, by encouraging and facilitating discussion, research, documentation, and authentication of the insignia worn by the armed forces of Great Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Commonwealth nations and former Colonies and Protectorates of the British Empire by forum members.

All great ideas. Not sure if my contribution would be a mission statement or a goal. "to provide a safe and nurturing environment for new collectors to learn".
May sound a bit simplistic and maternal but the hope is for broadening the collector base. Best Jack |

To promote good practice by dealers and sellers of Insignia to eradicate and limit the amount of fake, forged and copy badges available on the marketplace.
A bit fanciful but worth a try Paul |
