They're worn by 22 and 23 SAS and SRR.
The silver on midnight blue SRR insignia available are a fantasy. Page SRR-1 of Army Dress Regulations (All Ranks) 2011 refers... Last edited by Royal; 20-01-20 at 09:21 AM. |

Thanks, it is difficult to keep up to date and regulations and actuality are sometimes inaccurate or at variance:
Army Dress Regulations 2017 Page SRR-1 say: 11. No 2 Dress Standard issue No 2 Dress jacket and trousers worn with beret for all ranks. Silver buttons. Silver badges of rank for officers and silver on pompadour blue chevrons and qualification badges (as for SAS) But also at ANNEX C TO SECTION 2 Serial Colour of Backing of Badges and Backing Black on pompadour blue 22 SAS; 23 SAS (V), SRR And JSP768 2015 shows the attached: That said, how often is No 2 Dress worn? In my experience of the SF world, 2s are worn for (very) occasional parades, funerals (sadly more common) and investitures.
I never saw the silver rank badges worn for any of the above but I did see the pompadour blue ones worn for all three. That said, I was never a member of the SRR and as you say JSP768 is pretty clear even if it contradicts Army Dress regs! In the early days, RM members wore the SRR collar dogs and shoulder titles on lovats but with RM buttons and rank badges (as did the SBS). That may have changed though. |
