Certainly a curiosity there Neil. Obviously cast and without the sponge end. Originally riveted to something, an equipment box? I am thinking possibly of Indian Manufacture, late 1800s. Probably not used by R.A. But a colonial country somewhere. Just a gut feeling! Regards, D.J.

I am fairly confident it is plated if it has a white metal coloured slider as well.
It also, at one point in its life had a NAAFI fitted rotating centre wheel fitted on it which has fallen off, hence the un natural centre hole.

It is there that you can see the plating has been slightly removed.

regards
