Default Canadian Memorial Crosses

Does anyone know how many different makers there were of the Canadian Memorial Cross? Were there any issued without a makers mark? I am looking at buying one but there is no makers mark so I suspect it has been ground and re-engraved with a new name. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.

HI Brent, I did a quick survey of some 30 crosses in my accumulation. I found all were maker marked, including Lackie, Birks, and R. The depth of the marking varied considerably, even within the same maker. I did not find any without a mm.

Hi Brent

I agree with Bill's comments in regards to crosses would not touch one if it did not have at least a faint "STERLING" or makers mark.

I am including a photo of a couple of WW1 Crosses these are all marked "STERLING" and "R"
