Greetings from Canada
I'm a former Air Cadet Officer (Royal Canadian Air Cadets) and also a former Civilian Employee of the Department of National Defence.
Obviously I am also a Badge Collector - currently collecting RCAF Badges and some other Military Badges (North Shore Regiment, 73rd Northumberland Battalion of Infantry) and anything related to the Golden Hawks! I hope to be able to acquire items to finish off some Badge Boards I am currently working on snd perhaps I might gain some assistnace from some others on this board. |

Hello fred597,
Most seem still to be asleep, thus to me the honour of saying WELCOMe to you. Hope you feel at home here.

RCAF Wings Board
Thanks for the suggestion, Bill.
Here's a board I put together with various RCAF Wings - the top 2 rows are WW2 era, the middle row is from the post-war King's crown era and the bottom 2 rows are from the period 1955-1968. We all know, of course, thaty in 1968 our Defence Minister brought in the integration program putting all 3 services into the pathetic bus-driver suit! (Yup! I never was & never will be in agreement with that dumb idea!) Nice to see the Navy get their `Royal Canadian Navy` title back and to see 3 separate and distinctive uniforms again. As I get more boards completed, I`ll post them also. Posting a photo on a bulletin board is new to me ... let`s hope it works |

My Wings Badge Board
This is the first of a number of "Badge Boards" I hope to create, I've already got several badges accumulated for the others, but have only mounted these.
In the photo you will see in the top 2 rows, badges which were issued between 1924 and the end of WW2; in the 3rd row are badges that came into use between the end of WW2 and the advent of the Queen's Crowns Badges (1955). The remaining 2 rows are for the Badges authorized sometime between 1955-1968. (The Army parachutist badge was specifically forbidden for a long time, but, the RCAF relented in the mid-1960's and did for a short time, permit those qualified, to wear their "jump" Wings. http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j352/fred597/ Last edited by Bill A; 21-10-11 at 11:41 AM. |
