Hi

A request for the identification of the middle badge was in the Military Heraldry Society’s Formation Sign during 2008. However, up to now it has not been identified!

Although it doesn’t really help very much with the identification of the sign in question at the moment the U.S. 23rd. Infantry Division had a similar sign to it ! In this instance having a blue shield with white stars and no edging on it.

Regards
Arthur

There are numerous similarly styled badges (in various colours) described as "Americal Division" .

"After World War II the Americal Division was officially re-designated as the 23rd Infantry Division. However, it was rarely referred to as such, even on official orders."

So possibly this was one 'variation' of their sign , or simply a modern 'interpretation' of it.
