Could it be one of the new metal badges to feature in Chris’s book?

I should think sunglasses are required to look at it in the flesh.

My son’s ACF Detachment wear the badge of the Grenadier Guards, this is the pattern that they are issued (and have been for at least two years )

Default Grenadier Guards Cap Badge 2014

For confirmation? Here is one in sealed packet of issue. Made by FIRMIN but badge not marked and packaging does not show manufacturer’s details as specified by MOD contracts post 2012.
Of interest is the descriptor GRENADIER GUARDS (SEEDED) CAP and finish Brass (so perhaps not as shiny as badge in opening post?)

NSN 8455-99-135-2742 Pattern No 4117 ( a very early pattern number )
Package dated 24/08/15

Tim

The finish on the lugs arent the same in the 2 examples shown. I wonder if CAMs is a TKS version ? Or more Firmin outsourcing.

I'm presuming that this is from before the " No advertising" order Chris. Would CAMs be from after this came in ?

Hi Mike,

Presume so - the 'no advertising' order came in first (as far as I can tell) on the 28th August 2012. This applied to both the item and packaging but I have never foumd any official reason why the change was requested.

Must have taken a while to filter through though with dies having to be re-sunk and new packaging designed/manufactured etc.

Attached is the modern Grenadier Guards [Warrant Officer, Orderly Room Sergeant and Band Sergeant] badge. This one is marked 'F&S'.

Regards,

Chris

I think this one is the same as Tim's example in the makers packet.
