Default Silver RMC Duntroon cap/collar badge

Hi, I recently acquired a sterling silver Royal Military College Duntroon cap/collar badge of the 1913-1948 pattern and I was wondering if anyone knew for whom they were made and who might have worn them.

It is corrected hallmarked "Stg Sil" for late 19th or early 20th century Australia and maker marker "Stokes & Sons, Melb". The sterling silver version is noted in Cossums book on Badges of the Australian Army in the 1912-1918 section (Entry No 154) so it is an official issue item but beyond that I can't find out anything.

Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I've never actually seen one.

Could it be a special issue (or unofficial purchase) for a special occasion such as a monarch's visit?

Default Silver RMC badge

Hi, I have attached pictures of obverse and reverse of the badge. It is identical in die strike to other Stokes RMC badges I have from the same period.

regards

Dave

Default Stg Silver Duntroon badge

Have had this one for years (also one odd stg silver cufflink) but have never been sure exactly when it was worn. I suspect quite early and private purchase.
I missed out on a stg silver Chaplains badge sold on Ebay a couple of years ago, but picked up a silver plated version.
