Default London Irish Cord Boss

Did anyone bid on the London Irish Cord Boss that ended today on ebay UK? Does £112 seem a bit over the top for this? Maybe it's the going value for this, I don't know. Opinions?

Hello mgc,
Bosleys had an example of this badge for sale in their Postal Auction of 18/5/05 ( lot 191 ) Guide price was £40-£60.
I dont know what it sold for, but £112 does seem on the high side.

There again ,anything is worth what a purchaser is prepared to pay for it.

P.B.

There's a Queen Victoria's Rifles cord boss ending in 2 days. It's at £15 now. We'll see how that goes.

Just had a look, another nice item, I suspect the final price will be considerably more than £15.

Have we come across one type of badge that has not been reproduced ?

Default Premiums for some regiments

The price achieved for the QVR boss badge seems very reasonable, I think there is no doubt that in the case of some regiments ( and this seems to apply to all Irish regiments ) items sell for considerably more than similar items for other regiments.

This also seems to apply to anything with a Liverpool connection ( unfortunatly for us Liverpool collectors )

I would think this is due to both scarcity and to the number of collectors to a particular regiment.

The positive side is that the value of collections are maintained but in the long term as the number of collectors declines for whatever reasons I wonder what will happen to values ?

Since most of us collect because of the personal interest, rather than as an investment,it does not really matter, but it provokes some interesting thoughts.

P.B.

Hi 8thfoot,
I checked out the price the badge sold for and I can confirm that it was £113-00 hammer. So that £112 on e-bay was not to bad providing it was genuine.
