Might I suggest, in this instance, going directly to not one, but two very reputable dealers who have that badge for less?

There were three, but I see Peter has sold his

The Brodrick cap was only worn from 1902 to 1906. "ordinary" cap badges were worn on it but with long shanks. I don't know enough about Yorks Regt badges to comment on the one you are looking for, but this site probably has something

Hi Yorkie,
up until recently i have not seen this badge reproed. However they are about. I cannot remember which `quality` repro Artiste was selling it but they offered it in all brass as wwi issue!!!! The broderick along with the associated badges ceased to be worn 6 years before the first war started !!!! The image of the badge is not brilliant with a lot of glare but i cannot make out from the picture any signs of a repro! I cannot confirm it to be right either though. With the broderick badge you need to see the rear, dead easy usually then. Ask the seller for a scan of the back. It should have two sweatholes. One E-W in the coronet, one N-S to the bottom of the cross. Have a look at the Green Howards museums badge page, excellent http://www.greenhowards.org.uk/capbadge.php If you have not been to the `medal` room it is well worth a visit as it has an excellent display of headdress badges
Cheers, Dave

The all brass ones are Taxicar specials.

The bi-metal one in the first post is grossly over-priced.

Alan

I have seen originals of these at militaria fairs for around £60. Not a common badge but certainly not that rare.
Cheers, Dave
