Default CAOF insignia

A very intersting photo of an inspection of the Canadian Army Occupation Force, sometime mid 1945. Some items to note:
  1. Canadian Army Occupation Force strip added below 3rd CID patch.
  2. Brigade bars above the 3rd CID patches on several officers and men.
  3. Blackened rank badges on the R Wpg R officer.
The R Wpg R officer has a striking resemblance to John Cleese.

Default Original RWR CAOF battledress

If it wasn't for the open collar, it might well be the BD pictured below. Included is an officers cap badge ...all is needed is a blackened web belt to make the image complete.

Default CAOF 3Div Sigs

Found this little JEM here in Calgary
And I believe that some members of the COAF wore the CCG hatbadge

Default CCG and badges

Dwayne, Nice tunic.
Hi Larry, Very nice acquisitions. I would want to do some more research on the 3 CID CAOF and the CCG. My understanding was that the troops wore the insignia of their corps or branch, including their shoulder title and the CAOF formation patch.
There may have been some connection between the Civilian Military Government organization and the CCG. See CIVILIAN MILITARY GOVERNMENT slip-on.

Default Ccg

Hi Bill
Now I have to do some digging. I either have it in a book or I found it on the net, but I have seen Canadian Soldiers (their pictures) wearing the CCG HB and collars. Wayne C. even had a CCG sweetheart pin a couple of years ago and like fool I did not buy it

Larry

Default Cleese

Yes,I believe John Cleese did serve a brief stint in the Rifles as Regimental Levity Officer before being transferred to MPFC full time. Hope this clears this up.
