Default south african aviation corps

Has anyone seen the original of the1915 South African Aviation Corps wing? There is a rendition in "Eagles Recalled" by Warren Carrol - how close is this to the original?

I hope somebody has it, because I would love to see a photograph of an original. I was very chuffed when I got the cap badge. If I remember correctly SA Brigade has the title. Regards Andrew

A year or so ago, someone in the UK had one for sale, but from the pic it just didn't look right. I believe that there is an example in the SA Military museum in Dunkeld, but they refuse to let anyone photograph it. I am pretty sure that the wing was produced in very limited numbers, but how many survived , and where they are now, is a matter of speculation. If you could get a verifiable example, you would have a very fine thing with lots of bragging rights !

Default SAAC Wing

The only photo I have ever seen of this wing being wear is the one of John Weston in the book Pioneers of Early Aviation in South Africa p.142.
