New CIIIR Parachute Regt beret badges
Just heard that the new Kings Crown badges are being made for the Coronation. Charles has insisted that people attending should wear “his” badge. The Regt has had qty 50 Kings Crown badges made for the Coronation, with officers, including King Charles having solid hallmarked silver ones made.
Hopefully I will get examples, but if anybody gets them first, can they put photos on this thread please? IanH |

That looks awful, on the beret.

Surely that's not right, that really is not nice, is it a rushed through job for the coronation?
There's a small bump on the left near the crown on the parachute, horrible. Chris |

Agree it’s shocking. Looks home made by someone lacking craftsmanship.
The KC Marsh fake die is better made than that IMO. |

If I was a Para, I'd buy a Marsh fake, no worries!

The ‘approved graphic’ shown in April’s Soldier magazine has the crown sitting snugly onto the parachute canopy.
Hopefully, the ‘bulk’ production will reflect this. T |

But would these (as bad as they are) be sought after in years to come? Rushed as they where and then replaced by much better badges there will be only a small number and rarer! Hard to say that last! as they do look wrong!

Indeed, look at badges made by Lambourne and the prices they can fetch!

Question : Is it an offically ordered/manufactured badge ?
As soon as the 'approved graphic' was published you could guarantee that copies/fakes would be produced. .

Posted this on the other threads:
The common design factor seen so far on actual badges is that the ‘new’ King’s Crown is unvoided. The CIIIR Royal Engineers badge is in ‘new metal’ when previously officially made and issued in anodised aluminium. However, it might be the case that these are examples produced in very small quantities and only for personnel who took part in Coronation events and bulk manufactured badges will be different (and better!). Dealers should not yet have access to stocks of the new badges, so what are they selling at inflated prices? Tim
