Default Help required on these - some quite challenging I fear!

Item 1) A finely made bugle horn with pin packing. Hollow construction, looks like silver gilt finish, with original pin fitting. My guess is it is an early Indian made pagri badge for an Indian army unit, possibly for an officer, but would welcome any thoughts on this.

Item 2) Signal cadet corps on brass lightning flash mounted on a copper ring which in turn is mounted on a gilt wreath. No sign of a crown ever being present. A three piece construction badge with two D ring lugs, east-west. It is clearly military but would like to know unit, country of origin and date of wear. Thoughts?

Items 3 & 4) My guess is these are Japanese Army WW2 era, one for the peaked cap and the other a shoulder rank badge, but these are just guesses. they are brass on the front and white metal on the reverse.

Item 5) Chrome metal Royal Berkshire Regiment pin badge. No sign of lugs or slider having been removed, but this looks like a full size capbadge and therefrore is too large for a sweetheart. Thoughts please as to what this might be.

Thanks
Ashantee

Could the Royal Berkshire badge be a bandsman's badge?

Just a guess.

Regards

Phil

Thanks Phil, that is of course a possibility. Will see what else this thread brings up!

Default RMLI

The wreath in item 2 looks like the one in the 3 part Royal Marine Light Infantry glengarry badge:

I believe these are Italian rank stars, this based on the design and the screw fitting.

Albert.

Yes, I can see that from your picture, well that would be one way to use up excess stock back at Gaunt's or wherever!
Thanks

If you take a look at this site, there is a good example of the stars on a WWII Italian uniform

BTW, the starts on the picture are no rank stars. They are the Savoy star that is worn by everybody in the Italian army until today.

I mean the stars as show by Albert on the captains uniform. They are worn on the collar on patches:
. mostrine, rectanglular ones
. alamari, special ones for grenadiers
. fiame, pointed ones like here, but also with two or three points.
Always one at each side with one star on each.

They can even be worn without the patches. It can be seen as the sign that this is a member of the Italian army and thus is about the last thing discarded in economising the dress.

If your stars are the same (I am not the one to decide that), they are worn in the same way. Different sizes may be for different dress types.

Albert's second one shows the stars on the two-pointed flames of a Bersaglieri (light infantry).
