Default Prince Alfred's Guard WWII Cap Badge

Does anyone have a picture of a WWII PAG cap badge along with measurements? I know there's a difference between the pre- and post-war badges and the WWII-era badge, but not sure what it is.

Many thanks in advance.

It is a blackened bronze badge like the pre WW2 badge. I regret that I don't have one in my collection, so can't post a picture. Regards Andrew

Hi
The badge is 37.5mm x 46mm. The other 2 I've shown are theatre made casts which were quite commonly worn by the SA forces.
The blackened badge has 2 lugs, East & West.
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks very much, Alex. Do you know if it was worn with the red and black striped backing in the field or was that just on parade?

I had been under the impression that Private soldiers in the PAG were known as 'Blades', but some years ago in Bulawayo I met a bloke who had served with them in WW2 (General Grant Tanks), and he assured mw they were called 'Troopers', and yet another PAG man I met about the same time - some thirty years ago - told me they were 'Blades'. Can anybody explain this please. Were PAG part of a bigger armoured outfit during WW2 and thus absorbed as 'Troopers' and reverted back to being 'Blades' after WW2 ?

Hi Nik
Sorry, I don't know about the flashes behind the badge.
Cheers,
Alex
