I dont know why they bothered. If MTP isnt suitable for combat then why didnt we just save a bunch of tax payers money and buy the yanks kit in the first place ? Suspect half of it is the marines will do anything to look different from the army lol.

Duh! It is MTP. It's the badges that are 'new'.

New Uniform for Royal Marines
It is NOT MTP. The new unifom uses a new camo pattern. In addition, has anyone noticed that many Royal Marines are abandoning the SA80 and adopting Canadian weapon?

From Wiki (so don't know how accurate) :
"The UK’s Royal Marines announced in June 2020 that they would be procuring new uniforms specifically for the Marines, taking them away from the standard PCS uniforms of the UK forces. Also announced was that the camouflage pattern would be in Crye’s Multicam, not the UK’s MTP. The Marine’s choice of uniform was actually the off-the-shelf G4 system manufactured by Crye. Having selected this uniform the option of using the MTP pattern was not open to the Royal Marines since Crye did not own the copyright." .

New Uniform for Royal Marines
Just checked the details. The new uniform has been procured from the US-based firm Crye Precision. It is lighter weight, has a higher tear-strength, is faster drying and is more breathable than typical 50/50 cotton/nylon kit.
It also has a subtle change in camouflage design - instead of the previous MTP design the uniform now uses Crye Precision's Multicam Pattern. The main objection Royal Marines have to the new uniform is that they now have to wear a White Ensign (albeit in subdued colours). Nothing wrong with that - many young Royals today need reminding that they are part of the naval service! And 43 Commando (responsible for protecting Britain's nuclear deterrent) have abandoned the SA-80 in favour of the Colt Canada C8 Diemaco carbine. Pete |

Hi Grey Green Acorn
You got your information from the same source as I did! You were just faster than me in putting it up. Pete |
