I recently brought this badge to a Sussex school ACF/CCF unit but for the life of me I cannot remember which one

It's the Eastborne Council badge.

It may be a council badge but there is a cadet unit from 1916 which might be a contender.

Eastbourne Borough Fire Brigade pre. 1941 cap badge. There are buttons to match.

Eastbourne College had an OTC with a different badge entirely based on the Sussex design.

And Eastbourne Grammar School cadet corps was RE (Home Counties) badged and later RA when a CCF.
