14th/20th Hussars vs KRH
Good morning,
Can anyone please tell me if there is a different cap badge for the 14/20th Hussars and the KRH. Or was the cap badge carried forward as part of the amalgamation? I have tried to find different badges but they appear to be the same. Are there any variations with the KRH cap badge? I look forward to your replies. Regards, Tom Arte et Marte. |

2 very different badges. The eagle design changed and the KRH badge is larger. The KRH was originally issued in black a/a but the regt soon adopted private bought metal ones. Metal ones were subsequently issued in black finish. Around 2008 a new CO decided that the ORs would wear brass badges on their berets but retained the black one on their No1 Dress caps. Alan |

There exist 5 versions of the 14/20 Eagle.
1. All brass with FR on chest - not a sealed pattern but possibly regtl purchase in the 1930s before the pattern was officially approved? 2. All brass. 3. Anodised in all gold. 4. Anodised in black. 5. As above with head incorrectly facing to the right as viewed. Maker's error? |

Thanks for the replies.
So what what I can gather the easiest way to tell the difference is the stance of the eagle, KRH being more slender, 14/20 wider. |

The KRH badge is actually much taller.

I thought it was rather easy, black 14/20th with out FR, black KRH with FR.
