20220925_091323.jpg This Liverpool Scottish I have, am pretty sure is a 100% fake! But have seen loads of them in silver going for silly prices. It's marked LBBC, there's some weight in it also. So basically what am asking is, is this legit or a dud? Thanks |

Is that not one of the ones that were brought back in for 10 minutes and then binned ?
LBBC would be London Badge and Button Co . That would fit with the time frame. I dont know what the New Metal badge book says about it. If not Peter B maybe able to offer you advice on it. |

The 1998 last pattern version is in all silver colour finish 'new metal'. Extract from 'New Metal' by Chris Marsh:
Liverpool Scottish - Insignia, Organizational. Cap. All Ranks. V Company (The Liverpool Scottish) 5th/8th Kings. Nickel silver. Bright nickel plate. NSN 8455-99-869-2575 on Forbes tartan backing. This is the final and fourth badge manufactured in September 1998 and is the only item on the official inventory pattern No 28136. This badge was made of nickel silver with a bright nickel plate and has a more shiny appearance to the previously used pieces. It was not maker marked but has the more usual three lugs. It was deleted from the inventory on 29th August 2017. [NMI15] Here is my example in my album https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ctureid=142679 Tim

My example, not maker marked and was found as issued, wrapped in white tissue paper in an army surplus store that used to be in Brentwood, Essex. It would appear to be the example as quoted by Tim above . . .

I do not think that your gold and silver coloured version shown in post 1 is an issued badge. So likely made as a commemorative or collectors item.
