Hi 121155,
No idea but looks like a nice badge. Look forward to seeing if anyone knows. Cheers, Roy.

Looks like a security or police type badge.

It is one of a series of badges used/worn by a commercial security company which does or did exist in Canada.

Western Canadian Security company
Base-Fort was a Western Canadian security company (out of Winnipeg I think), I worked for them briefly in the mid-80's when I first moved to Alberta (working 12 hour hospital shifts). It was then known as Metropol-Basefort. I still have several sets of cloth shoulder titles. The cap badge was worn on a dark blue forage cap. IIRC, mine looked just like that, KC and all. I doubt they had the proper authority to have crown on their badge, let alone one correct for the period.
I think they went out of business or were bought/changed names in the 90's.

Hi Bill,
Well it doesn't get much better than that for a badge Id. It was the crown that had me baffled but there you go. Mystery solved and thank you for your input. Still - a nice badge though. Cheers, Roy.

Shoulder patches
Circa 1985-86. These are my shoulder patches. I had more than I remembered. Note they are matched pairs but all slightly different stitching!? The cap badge is one I acquired in the last couple years at a show. My original cap badge went back with the uniform (overcoat, jacket, two shirts, two pants, forage cap, clip on tie...) so I could get my $150 deposit back Back then that was equal to my share of the rent... and long before I ever collected badges.
The cap badge I have looks to be the same die strike, but a different construction on the back, one screw post and a pin to keep it from spinning around Which again if I recall correctly, was how my original was.

Found a 1970's photo of two Guards in uniform
(Alberta Provincial Archives photo) My uniform was similar, would be all dark blue... I don't think I had the stripe down the pants though. Vastly different shoulder patches from my 1980's ones.
