Default Australia Air Force jacket

This jacket and hats I have just got, from the mans daughter. His name was Arthur Rowles, number 424642. Questions I have are
Can anyone help with details of his service
What does the blue band on the cuff mean
Why are the eagles facing different ways on the side hats.
Thanks in advance

G'day Norfolk Regt Man.

The info above is all that can be obtained for WW2 personal and later. The WW1 records are fully digitised and available on line from the "National Australian Archive".

As a museum volunteer at 2 military museums here in Melbourne we encounter this problem all the time.

I hope that this helps.

Regards Phil.

His commission in the General Duties Branch, Citizen Air Force, RAAF, was terminated effective 22 February 1946 as a result of demobilization by Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No 100 of 30 May 1946.

Nothing for the notification of his commission however.

His Next of Kin is actually stated as Lucy Rowles rather than Arthur, and he had previous service in the Militia as N224050.

Keith
