Agreed. There’s no die based on this Gaunt OSD as I’’m aware.

Nothing wrong with that. Appears to have the Woodward crown seen on 19th Londons, of the era:

Regards to all,

JT

Yes, the crown looks very close to mine, slider marked by Woodward. May be yours has been a little more polished....

Regards
Markus

Thanks Guys,
much appreciated, it came with a group of other medals and badges so I have no idea of a realistic value on it's own, £15 maybe?

That would be a fair price and should elicit a quick sale. They are common badges.

Default White Metal version

Well until this showed up I did not believe it existed despite a white metal badge being mentioned in KK.

I have seen many FN die restrikes and a couple fake die versions in WM but never one I would regard as genuine, until now.

This is mine brass 1899-02 - possibly the same die?

This is the other w/m version which I am dubious about.

Correct Alan, same die as your GM example. The crown is a distinctive shape as too is the ‘-02’ in which each digit is raised slightly higher than the last v’s the 1899.

Alas the WM version you show is indeed the commonly seen WM fake.

Sadly I’ve never seen one from that die with a marker marked slider either.

Maybe one day something will turn up that will also help date it and identify the maker or use.

Some better pics after a gentle clean to remove the corrosion.
