Hi All

Two different chads from the same maker a year apart. The later looking very Firmin like.

Thanks, cheers,

....I am not surprised as the first one was not very attractive. Maybe the feedback was not great and they changed to the more "in vogue" Both genuine though. Probably a private purchase and at the cheaper end as they are both hollow and back plated?

Default 17L arm badge (Motto)

Could these be described as ‘long boned’ arm mottos as opposed to the more recent (relatively) ‘short boned’ version?

..... I think R&W did their version of the "Pimm" chad first and then did the Firmin style.

You can see the early Pimm with the rest of the styles here :- https://www.paoyeomanry.org.uk/Motto/NCOArmMotto.htm

UPDATE:- The 1894 sold for £730 Feb 2022 on evilbay.

Not as rare as the 1864 William Penn only seen one and I do have a white metal R&W. Still great items I continue to hunt.
