19th Hussars - Opinions Please
Hi All,
I was wondering what people thought about this, is it a good one? Thanks, Michael |

It’s a repro I’m afraid.

Hi Michael
They're all repro's out there of that badge. I've been collecting now for twenty five years and have yet to see a genuine one. Regards Neil |

Thanks Neil,
I had been told they were pricey but hoped I might have got lucky. Not to worry, Michael |

Are you referring to the double scroll Nelly of which there are only 7 or 8 known genuine examples? Last edited by Luke H; 22-10-20 at 10:15 PM. Reason: typo |

19th Hussars - Opinions Please
Hello,
The very first purchase I ever realised on eBay (the year 2000) was this single scroll 19th Hussars badge. I understand that most of these badges are copies, but still I'd like to let you have a look at it. It's a rather heavy piece, pretty thick metal. I don't know what to think about it. A specialist's opinion would be highly appreciated before I sell. Many thanks, Kurt |

I would say, from the photographs, it is of recent manufacture and post dates the period the original badges were actually worn.

Somewhere on the forum there is an in depth thread on identifying fakes of this nelly badge. I've had a quick search but couldn't find it but with a bit of time I'm sure it could be located. It was quite a long time ago.
