Pat (if reading apologies for not replying) the Connaught Rangers badge in the SWB frame is because when they mutinied in India in 1920 the SWB were sent into round them up (grandfather being 6 foot 4 inches and heavy weight boxer) but when told to organise a firing squad they refused, so some London regiment came in and shot the ring leaders.

Copied up some more rpc that maybe of interest and some more s/t to continue the feed.

RWF with 38th Div patch, WG, Monmouthshire T2 and T ASC W.B.M.B (1911 Newton Camp, Porthcawl).

And just for Pat a pair of bronze Welsh s/t.

Very nice officers bronze MYC badge but still doesn't go with the T Y Mont (about 10+ years out).

Keep up the collecting (just bought another badge to add as lockdown can't stop the need to collect) and the joy it brings.

Ta

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Hope you and yours are keeping well.
Very interesting reading what youve just posted and good to hear there was a RAMC Welsh Border title worn.
Thanks for showing the bronze titles, very nice along with the other items, good to see.
Blimey, wouldn’t have messed with your grandfather 😁!!

Best wishes
Pat

I too think the Monmouthshire title is a variant pattern but do not know for sure.
be interested to hear other views about that and the South Wales and Welsh Border.

Welsh Guards titles as mentioned, each have 3 hex lugs:
Large pattern: 67mm
Small pattern: 36mm

Best wishes
Pat
Thank you Pat - I don't think I've seen an example of the smaller version to be honest...

Jon,

One thought relating to that splendid 38th Division you have displayed.
There is another specific shoulder title relating to this subject I am aware of. Worn by the 38th Division Cyclist Company.
Formed on 22nd April 1915, they served until joining the XI Corps cyclist battalion a year later.
Maybe one to try and add at some point.
Hope of interest and thanks once again for sharing this stunning collection of WW1 Welsh insignia.

Best wishes
Pat

As is the existence or otherwise of T/RAMC/SOUTH WALES. There is a a hazy thought in the back of my mind that I've seen one, but in separates on a backing plate. When it comes to titles with SOUTH WALES in its hard to determine whether they refer to the old South Wales Brigade before being broken up or the South Wales Mounted Brigade.

On the Welsh Border RAMC I've certainly not seen one together as a title. Perhaps Jonathan has? The Welsh Border Mounted Brigade is a little out of scope for me.

Thanks too on the Welsh Guards. I'm inclined to go with the WG and Leek together for the display. Do you know if there was any change in the design of the leek between WW1 and WW2 at all?

Best regards
Jon
Hi,
Regarding the T RAMC Monmouthshire I’ve looked at my photo’s, can’t find one to confirm the variation or date. However the Monmouthshire regiment, Monmouth title sealed pattern is 1929 may be the T RAMC Monmouth is post 1929 (As attached photo) and T RAMC Monmouthshire pre 1929.

Well Pat, I’ve never seen one and wasn’t aware of it’s existence to be honest. A large number were drafted into the 16th Welsh when they transferred. Definitely on my list now that I am aware. Thanks for that!
