Default Dagger Badge from the Sudan

This is a Sudanese Badge which is the same shape and format as the dagger carried and used by many of the tribes in the Sudan.

Hi,

Another nice piece - It is an Offfcer's headdress badge this time for the Eastern Arab Corps. Interestingly this particular badge had its antecedence with the Arab Battalion (Anglo-Egyptian Army) who were reconstituted in 1918 as the Eastern Arab Corps.

It's difficult to say exactly what date your 11th Soudanese dates from, but most probably from about 1909 onwards.

Thanks Zob,

Are you aware of good references for Sudanese Military artifacts etc?

I am based in the Sudan.

Hi,

There is to my limited knowledge only a few isolated references to the type of the devises worn during the Anglo-Egyptian condominium in the badge reference books that are still available today. These being Rosignoli's, Owen's and Edwards. However, the information contained within is extremely thin and probably won't tell anything that you don't already know. That said - if there is anything that you need identifying or are unsure about within the condominium period (up to 1955) then please drop my a post and I'll see if I can help.

Zob.
