Default British Guiana collar?

Hi all,

I'd like to get an opinion on what looks like a collar badge I obtained recently. The centre emblem is what appears to be an 18th century Royal Navy or similar frigate tall ship, virtually the same as the British Guiana Militia badge. Can anyone confirm or refute that this is a British Guiana badge?

size is 3cm x 3cm

Garry

Dear Gary, please find attached 'British Guiana Police' badge showing the ship for comparison. Hope this may be of use.

Hi Garry,
Your badge certainly has a Guiana look about it.
I have a very small collar badge with the same ship surrounded by a wreath.
Cheers, Tinto

Hi Gary, In addition to the police badge, your ship is identical to the one in the following British Guiana badges, for example, the George Town Militia, the British Guiana Volunteers and on the different belt buckles. Reference, British Colonial Badges by Barry Renfrew, Margaret Renfrew and Bill Cranston.

Harry and Tinto, many thanks for your replies. On the basis of probability it looks like a Guiana badge but it remains a mystery as to which unit. The lugs look like the badge is from the inter-war period but I could be wrong on that. It might even be a fantasy item. I remain open-minded and look forward to any further information as to it's identity.

Cheers,

Garry

My thanks to Barry Renfrew, it's a British Guiana Police collar badge pre 1953. The other facing collar has the ship going to the right.
