Default Buttons

Hi Mike
The 'animal' on the right hand button looks a bit like the lion on the Sri Lanka flag. Maybe some thing from Ceylon?
Cheers,
Alex

Many thanks for the quick answers. There doesn't seem to be a lot of activity with buttons - I'll post a few South African buttons - if only to see how many button collectors are interested !

Parkyns book has a few pictures of buttons in it. They do tend to be the
older type. Worth a look.

Hi ,

The button on the right is the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. A very distinguished Rifle regiment.

Default Enamelled Button

Hi Btns
I don't think that is Sri Lankan. That lion looks like the lion represented on the Herefordshire Regiment badge. I don't know of any military buttons that are enamelled like that so I suspect it may be a footman's button (not sure of correct terminology) or possibly a council button of some sort.
Cheers,
Alex
