Can anyone identify these buttons ?
There dont seem to be many books on button identification, so when these turned up, I was stumped . Can anyone help ?

The 'animal' on the right hand button looks a bit like the lion on the Sri Lanka flag. Maybe some thing from Ceylon? Cheers, Alex |

Many thanks for the quick answers. There doesn't seem to be a lot of activity with buttons - I'll post a few South African buttons - if only to see how many button collectors are interested !

Enamelled Button
Hi Btns
I don't think that is Sri Lankan. That lion looks like the lion represented on the Herefordshire Regiment badge. I don't know of any military buttons that are enamelled like that so I suspect it may be a footman's button (not sure of correct terminology) or possibly a council button of some sort. Cheers, Alex |
