Default Fgh un

I got this BD jacket in Canada a few years ago. I know that the Fort Garrys did several UN peacekeeping tours, but does the double UN patch (i.e. one on each sleeve, which seems a bit unusual to me) belong to any distinct tour, or is it (oh horror) a fantasy item?

Hi, Nice post war tunic. It is unusual to have a tunic with UN patches on both arms. The typical configuration on Canadian UN deployments was the UN patch on one arm and the Canadian identifier on the other. For some time, the Canadian identifier was the resurrected 25 Inf Bde patch, worn as a nationality patch.
The UN patch is the unilingual version of the patch. Later issues were bi-lingual depending on the deployment. (English French or English Spanish). There was an early issue patch, that was embroidered ONU.

Many thanks for your reply, Bill. The format you mention, UN patch on one sleeve and 25th Bde patch on the other, is what I've usually seen in photos. Any guesses as to which UN duty tour this jacket may represent?
