Norfolk Volunteer Regiment
Picked up this large photo the other day because he has this badge on the hat:
(KK 1668) above crossed rifles with slings the letters NVR and above these a coronet. In Black metal. does anyone know what the shoulder title could be, the one on his right looks to end with the letter R There is no detail on the buttons. His collar on the jacket is two colours, i think the outer part is a dark red/blue On the back there is the following info Percy Storr 1914 died aged 50 father of iris storr ( later wollard then roberts) anyone got any ideas about the rank around the cap aswell no name on the photo all the best ae |

First picture I have ever seen of the badge in use, Try the census to pin him down to Location etc. May not be of help for what is said to be a VTC unit but I spoke to Dave earlier and he has seen unusual rank designations on OTC pictures, Hope you get to the bottom of it. Kevin

Morning NRM.
I can't offer anything that will add to your post, except to say, I suspect that a picture, showing this badge, is a scarce item. Nice one. Regards Brian |

Norfolk Volunteer Regiment
Hi All,
Following on from the above, I have this cast badge KK1668, with blades. It has the appearance of age but I'm wondering if it is genuine. Have these badges been faked in this way? Thanks, Tinto |

Bank of England
Andrew, I think the bank of England may well be able to help you, I think they have a lot of archive material. When I worked in the print we did a lot of publicity leaflets which included early Rifle Volunteer pictures.

NVR
Andrew,
What a good find: it knocks into a cocked hat all our theories discussed last September and the photos in 'A little chat'. Stephen. |

NVR Badge.
so, I have not yet found any more about this photo, so the next step is can we take a look at the shoulder title and have a guess.
Its cloth, ends with the letter B or R, and it has an edging, which must make it a bit easier to find, and its british. can anyone think of a cloth title that has all of the above. |

Hi Norfolk Regt. man,
It could be the name of a place in Norfolk, possibly CROMER? Cheers, Tinto |

Hi,
Further to the above, I found this picture on the Great War Forum (please credit the owner, thanks). I think it shows the other part of the shoulder title, NV?? Cheers, Tinto |
