Default New From Canada

Hi all, I'm a collector from Canada who's currently collecting Canadian badges worn overseas in WW2, and looking very seriously at getting into WW2 British badges as well. I've got alot to learn and I hope to pick up lots from the forum!

I've already picked up Peter Doyle and Chris Foster's excellent WW1 and WW2 British badge books, and I'm familiar with Mazeas' well known book on Canadian badges, although the copy I've examined only has illustrations and catalogue numbers - no dates, which really seems to limit it's utility to me. Am I missing something?

Cap badge collecting for me started as a side project to my vintage military firearm collection, spurred by inheriting my grandfather's WW2 RCEME cap badge. I find I really enjoy having something I can display in my living room guilt free, and the price is very attractive compared to antique guns!

I'm also a serving member of the CF reserves, and I've been to Afghanistan once. So although it's not really what I collect I can probably offer some insight on current badges!

Hello Nyles, Welcome to the BCMBF. Several Galleries for Canadian badges (see top right corner under Current Projects), plus lots of information in the threads. There are some threads on current badges, including Afghanistan patching. Enjoy!

See the most recent Mazeas book on 1920-50 badges. In most cases he gives the General Order for the authorization of the badges.
