Insignia of The Ulster Defence Regiment
Hi all,
I recently got the badge bug again after 3 kids coming along. I came across this interesting article on the insignia of the UDR which may be of interest to the Irish collectors. J https://rmhistorical.com/files/conte...20Regiment.pdf |

UDR
Hi J, That must be the full set right there, as there are many I have never seen.
the 7 UDR or's slip on, and the HQ UDR colonel for starters. the 7 UDR coloured material company colours, + the pipers sporran roman numerals too. I have a full set of the 10 UDR coloured company slip ons, but had only ever seen a reference to the 7th colour scheme. many thanks for this very interesting link. regards John |

Wow, thanks also for sharing this. Mike
I thought a nice recent Regiment, well, compared to some, would be easy to complete. How wrong was I? |

Very interesting, thank you for posting.
What is mentioned in the narrative there is that the cap badges ( presumably anodised aluminium) were 'blackened) to mirror other British Army units on OP Banner tours. I have a UDR anodised aluminium cap badge which is MANUFACTURED BLACK. It's on an unmarked slider. Never seen another. I'll post a pic purely for interest, when I get home tomorrow night. Regards all Bess |
