Default Insignia of The Ulster Defence Regiment

Hi all,

I recently got the badge bug again after 3 kids coming along. I came across this interesting article on the insignia of the UDR which may be of interest to the Irish collectors.

Default UDR

Hi J, That must be the full set right there, as there are many I have never seen.

the 7 UDR or's slip on, and the HQ UDR colonel for starters.

the 7 UDR coloured material company colours, + the pipers sporran roman numerals too.

I have a full set of the 10 UDR coloured company slip ons, but had only ever seen a reference to the 7th colour scheme.

many thanks for this very interesting link.

regards John

Wow, thanks also for sharing this. Mike

I thought a nice recent Regiment, well, compared to some, would be easy to complete. How wrong was I?

Very interesting, thank you for posting.

What is mentioned in the narrative there is that the cap badges ( presumably anodised aluminium) were 'blackened) to mirror other British Army units on OP Banner tours.

I have a UDR anodised aluminium cap badge which is MANUFACTURED BLACK. It's on an unmarked slider. Never seen another.

I'll post a pic purely for interest, when I get home tomorrow night.

Regards all

Bess

Yes, definitely, it was an eye opener for myself as well! Great to have found a reference for the UDR
