Default The l4 Yeomanry regiments

With regards to the 4 remaining reserve force Yeomanry regiments.

I'll use the Royal Wessex Yeomanry as an example:

It is my understanding that the Royal Wessex Yeomanry has some 5 squadrons and that each individual squadron maintain their historical name, such as "D Squadron" of the Royal Wessex Yeomanry are AKA "The Royal Devon Yeomanry", Royal Wessex Yeomanry.......Do these individual squads all wear the same cap badge as their senior (HQ) badge (Wessex Yeomanry) or do they wear their own cap badge and or flash to distinguish themselves?

Common sense would say no, as that would seem a little confusing, but then again traditions can sometimes change one's perspective of "common sense".

Thanks in advance to all who have some constructive feedback.

Andrew

It has changed over the years depending on the regt and some sqns wore the old regtl badges but others wore the single regt badge. They chop and change. Most recently the Sqns have been told to standardise with the single regtl badge and drop the sqn ones.

Posted some photos in my album -Royal Mercian and Lancastrian yeomanry and gallery I have not looked at these for a few years ,except to add the Royal Wessex cap badges as now worn by other ranks and officers I don't think there has been any movements of squadrons since the formation of the Scottish and North Irish yeomanry
Please note this is part of my general collection not something that I specialise in

Default Yeomanry

Hi David
Your albums prompted me to look at mine . Any idea when QOY started wearing silver anodised titles and are they affiliated to the Northumberland Hussars Sqn?

Bob,
Extract from Army Dress Committee meeting in 2010 approving silver QOY shoulder titles.

At some point the Northumberland Hussars (Squadron) wore (uniquely?) a chrome plated NH shoulder title.
