Hi,

I don't know if it's Aussie (it does not appear to be in Clive Johnson's book on Australian awards) but if it is from Australia, the swan should narrow it down to a West Australian badge.

Cheers, Tim

I don't think it's military but its related to Western Australia.

G'day Chay

A quick Google search on the motto shows that it is used by the WA government, so Id say its a WA local government badge rather than a military badge.

Maybe if you sent the photo to John Burridge he may be able to answer your question.

Regards

Phil.

West Australian police but they have been heavily copied.
Not sure about yours but I don’t like the look of the back.
I think they were maker marked also??

It is a WA Police cap badge. It may have been worn by Senior Officers. However, as previously said, they have been copied to death. I'm fairly sure that the originals were hallmarked on the back.

Coat of arms of Western Australia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_o...tern_Australia

"Cygnis Insignis" meaning "distinguished by its swans."

Gentlemen
Thanks for the interest
I just found this old thread and read the comments I missed and yes it is an unusual badge probably made by Fattorini ?
I have included better photos but still the makers mark is not completely clear

Kind regards Chay

Great details
Noticed 2 years later ?
Able to check against ozbadge online and I believe it’s made by Sheridans Perth for other ranks and is the water police version.
