Unknown PoW plumes button
Any help on this one would be much appreciated. I’ve been trying to identify it for ages. It came with a lot of early 19th C RWF items if that helps.
Thanks in advance. |

I'm probably way out with this but I'll post it anyway.
An emblem of the 10th Light Dragoons was the Rising Sun of York, that emblem being bestowed on the regiment in 1783 in commemoration of the Prince of Wales's 21st birthday. In 1783 it became the 10th (Prince of Wales's Own) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons, and was ultimately prior to amalgamation in 1969 the 10th Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales's Own). (The scarlet badge backing on the 10th's beret was shaped to represent the Rising Sun of York and coloured to represent the red dragon of Wales). Could the design on the button represent the 10th's PoW feathers on a sunburst? |
