Default Dobbies Ltd.

Was Dobbies Ltd. a South African jeweller? If yes, could someone provide me with their history? Were they known for making military badges? Thank you.

Hello

If it is Dobbies Ltd. of Nairobi then they were watchmakers and jewellers so they could well have made other items. Operated in the first half of the 20th century I believe.

Thanks Roger. Nairobi would make more sense. I will search and see what I come up with.

During WW2 a bloke by the name of Wali Mohamed made badges in Nairobi for many of the units deployed there, including British, South African and Rhodesian. Have attached a scan of the Rhodesian General Service badge worn by many Rhodesian units as made and stamped by Wali Mohamed. All his badges tend to be sand cast.
