Default 32 REGIMENT - ROYAL CORPS OF TRANSPORT (SINGAPORE)

"GREETINGS FROM SINGAPORE!!!"

I lived infront of the BRITISH MILITARY HOSPITAL (SINGAPORE). This Hospital which catered for the BRITISH ARMY personnel was at the ALEXANDRA ROAD.
As a teenager (15 yrs) my interest in the BRITISH ARMY grew from here. Day In and Day out, the BRITISH ARMY was right infront of my eyes, and I grew up to admire and LOVE them.
I would like to contact anybody who served in the 32 Regiment, RCT which was based at GLOSCESTER BARRACKs, off AYER RAJAH Road.
The subject is: There were fleets of BRITISH ARMY staff cars used during the 1960s right to the time the BRITISH ARMY pulled out of SINGAPORE in 1971. The various BRITISH ARMY units based in SINGAPORE had their own unit's staff car for higher ranking BRITISH ARMY OFFICERs
( LIEUTENANT COLONEL / COLONEL AND BRIGADIERS). The Questions is:
"What was the type of staff car used at that time? ( This is something I missed out in the study of the BRITISH ARMY.)
MY craze for the BRITISH ARMY when to the extend of recording the Registered Numbers of some of the staff cars used at that time. For example: 32 RCT 9which had the most numbers of Staff cqars - 51EK25 / 77EL95 / 22EK42. 18 SIG REGT - 77EL92.
3 BOD - 22EK88 and so on.
Can anyone who served in the 32 REGT / RCT at that time tell me the type of the staff cars used at that time and would be grateful if you can provide me with any photos, the best take in SINGAPORE at that time
THANK-YOU VERY MUCH SIR!!!

Sicere Regards,

Gurkha Rifles,
I did not get to Singapore before closure as after training in 1969/1970 I went to Northern Ireland for 2 years.

However, typical vehicles around the time you recall would include:

Ford Zephyr Staff Car (76EL21)
Morris J2 Minibus (39EK38)
Humber Husky Utility Car (80EL40) + (40EK64)
Bedford Bus (16EK61)

See this site which has VRN records for many British Army vehicles

Tim

Dear Tim,
Thank-you very much for the valuable information given by you. The link was of great help. The Link could have been better if it had provided the various VRN Listings and to which Unit in the FARELF the vehicle was allocated to. On Record purposes each unit in the FARELF has been given an equal supply of 3 Tonners (BEDFORD) Buses (BEDFORD) Land Rovers / Staff Cars / Utility Staff Cars / Motor cyles and so on based on the Unit's need.
I strongly believe that the BRITISH ARMY has a record of all the vehichles given to each existing unit at FARELF (SINGAPORE) during the BRITISH ARMY's presence here.
As I have mentioned my craze for the BRITISH ARMY has enable me to identify each Unit present in SINGAPORE during the 1960s till their pull out in 1971. Their Vehicle Formation Signs was an interesting subject for me as a teenager at that time. One day I might want to bring back the old memories and dedicate this presentation to the OFFICERS / OTHER RANKS and CIVIL STAFF of the BRITISH ARMY / AIR FORCE / AND NAVAL Units that served in SINGAPORE uder the Crown of QE II.

CHEERS!!!
Sincere Regards,
GURKHA RIFLES
