Hi Marc, Could you image the back of the title? That is the best way to tell.

Hi Irish, Are these yours? Are you going to display them?

Yes, I purchased a number of boards that had been part of the estate. At this point they are just sitting in my military room. Doubtful I would display them.

Did the Canadians wear the plastic collars or just the British?

Marc, If the backing is a loose weave white cotton it is Patch King. Patches of the 24 and 25 RCA style were never authorized. The tapes were the authorized pattern, both overseas and in Canada.

Hi Irish, Are there more Canadian boards?

Plastic badges were not acquired by the RCA. (With the exception of a sample set made for trial purposes. The record suggests the plastic badges were the field gun pattern.) It is likely the plastic badges shown on the board are RA Second World War badges.

The gilt QC badge and the larger gilt collars are Australian post 1954 badges. Keith

Still with the RCA but a different badge, I have a large (cap) badge Scully Ltd with 3 screws fixed to the rear. Can you tell me what it would be worn on. Also any comments on these two would be welcome. Scanner sorted, so here are the two badges. Marc Last edited by 54Bty; 09-02-22 at 06:16 PM. |

Hi Marc, The backing on your example is not typical of the Patch King repros. Yours appear to be good examples.
The three screw posts, if on a larger than normal cap badge may be a pouch badge.

A link to a 25 RCA title on auction. It is an example of a Patch King badge. The loose backing material and felt material are characteristic of their repro's. (Note Patch King clearly indicated that these were reproductions at the time they marketed them. It is in the mists of time that the origins have been lost. An incredible number of their repro's show up on ebay and in vendors' hands.) http://www.ebay.com/itm/WW2-Royal-Ca...item567a35600c
